Week-long Expo On Safe Antibiotics Use

VELLORE: A week-long exhibition commemorating National Pharmacy Week has been organised by the Department of Pharmacy Services (CMC Hospital) was inaugurated on Wednesday for the public on the safe use of antibiotics.

Dr J V Peter, head of the department said that the focus of the expo was to highlight the need for responsible use of antibiotics for the benefit of patients, general public and healthcare workers.

“Do not take antibiotics on your own. Take medicines prescribed by doctors and follow the instruction given by pharmacists. Complete the course of antibiotics prescribed by the doctor. Do not share your medicines with others. Do not stop medicines suddenly without your doctor’s advice.”

These were some of the safety tips given to visitors by pharmacists manning the stalls.

Dr Peter said that the proper and safe use of medicines is of prime importance and it is lacking in many people.
