NDRF Team Retrieves Body of 25-yr-old Man After Two Days near Melmonavur

VELLORE: The body of 25-year-old Sathish, a native of Thirumeni in Katpadi taluk who drowned in Palar River on Tuesday, was recovered by a 27-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team from Arakkonam on Thursday morning.

Sathish wanting to see the water flow in the river near Melmonavur along with his friends fell into the water and drowned. While police and fire tenders launched a search operation on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday, they were unable to trace the body till Thursday morning.

Collector Nanthagopal requested the NDRF for assistance. The team arrived on Thursday and after an intensive search the body was traced near Melmonavur village. The body was later sent for postmortem.

The collector made an appeal to the people of the district not to venture near the water. He urged parents not to send their wards near water bodies in the district, with their water levels rising fast. He appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration in this regard and remain vigilant when near any water bodies.
