Bail for 2 Lawyers in Plane Case

2 Perundurai advocates held for misbehaviour with air-hostess on Chennai-bound flight on Wednesday night

COIMBATORE:   The two lawyers, who were arrested on Thursday on the charge of  harassing an air-hostess on board a Chennai-bound flight, were granted conditional bail by Judicial Magistrate VI, Judge Rajavelu, here on Friday.

M Senthil Kumar (40) and S Raja (40) from Perundurai, Erode district, were arrested along with A Subash Swaminathan (31) from Tiruchy, after they allegedly harassed a flight attendant and attempted to take pictures of her inside the flight on Wednesday night.

The counsel for the duo, Ramesh Babu, argued that the accused fulfilled the bail conditions and would not go absconding during the course of the trial. Moreover, there was no evidence or suspicion that the two would tamper with the witnesses or evidence against them, he said.

He said police did not produce the mobile phones seized from the two as evidence. “Even to send them to forensics laboratory, they should obtain permission of the judge,” he added.

He claimed that his clients could have been clicking a “selfie,” which the air-hostess wrongly misunderstood to be a case of harassment.
