Tamilnadu Should Do a Bihar on Booze: Stalin, Anbumani

The DMK treasurer and the PMK Chief Ministerial candidate urged the State government to follow Bihar and announce Prohibition in Tamil Nadu too.

CHENNAI:  DMK treasurer M K Stalin and PMK Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday urged the State government to follow the Bihar example and announce Prohibition in Tamil Nadu too.

Stalin hailed the decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as historic and expressed happiness over the decision. The Bihar government has taken the decision even though there were no demands or protests demanding Prohibition, he said.

Stalin added that several women had requested him to close the TASMAC shops, during his ‘Namakku Naamey’ campaign and he vowed to eradicate liquor menace if the DMK comes to power. Appreciating Nitish, the PMK youth wing leader said the reasons applicable to Bihar over teh liquor issue were applicable to Tamil Nadu also. There have been instances of women taking to liquor and thousands of women become widows owing to liquor, he added.

He cited reports of girl students taking to liquor and appealed to the State government to save people from the liquor menace.
