Three-day 'Fete de Mahe' To Kick Off From November 29

PUDUCHERRY:  The three-day Mayyazhi Mahotsavam (Fete de Mahe) will kick off at Mahe from November 29 with a variety of programmes.

 The three-day festival is being organised jointly by the Department of Tourism and the Legislative Assembly Secretariat at Mahe.

The three-day festival will showcase the rich culture and tradition of the region, which is situated inside Kerala, according to Mangalatte Dinesh, Chairman of the Festival committee and Regional Administrator of Mahe.

The festival is scheduled to attract wholesome public participation thereby nurturing the feeling of oneness.

The ‘Aayi Mandapam’, the main venue will witness the performance of artists of national and international acclaim, which would add to the charm of the evenings. The festivities offer the people of Malabar an opportunity to get together, relax and rejoice.

The cultural programmes on Nov 29 include Noopura Dwani (by actor Asha Sarath), Nadatharangini ( by playback singer Vijay Yesudas and Ranjini Jose) and Narmasallapam ( by Vinod Kovoor, Surabhi and Hareesh).

On November 30, the programmes would include Music Bash (by playback singers Franco, Sayanora, Kollam Shafi and Anamika), Thrayam (by actor Leona Lishoy, Jewle and Janaki Krishnan) and Marimayam ( by Manikandan Pattambi, Niyas Backer, Mani Shornu, Jayadeva, Sneha, Riyas)

On December 1, Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala CPM leader, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Members of Parliament, R Radhakrishanan, N Gokulakrishan, MLAs, K Lakshminarayanan, Malladi Krishna Rao, V Bhalan will take part in the public function. Mahe legislator E Valsaraj will be felicitated for his completion of 25 years as MLA.

“It will commemorate the progress he has brought to the place in a span of 25 years marked with distinction. There is no better moment to honour the beloved leader of the people than the prestigious occasion of Mayyazhi Mahotsavam, which took shape in his artistic imagination”, said  Mangalatte Dinesh

Play back singers Chithra and Mano will perform while cine actress Remya Nambeesan will perform “Lasyam”.

In addition, Artists camp, painting and photo exhibitions, seminar on “waste is wealth” and a debate will also be held.

Cultural performances like Thiruvathirakkali, Thayambaka, Theyyam, Thira, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, cultural procession are also organised as part of the Mayyazhi Mahotsavam.
