PUDUCHERRY: IN a deviation from conventional  practices, Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi hosted a  ‘special’ function as part of tea party at Raj Nivas on the occasion of the Independence  Day, to the surprise of everyone.

Though in the past, tea party on the occasion used to be a high tea and interaction on the lawns at Raj Nivas, this year the Lieutenant Governor organised a function and presented commendation certificates in the presence of Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and the Speaker of territorial Assembly V Vaithilingam to celebrate the Independence Day.

“The function was arranged to recognize the hands that do work for us,” Bedi said.
