PUDUCHERRY: Unfazed by the National Anthem being sung, a Congress functionary took a selfie with Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, on the occasion of National Anthem Day at Thiruvalluvar Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.

The event was organised after the Ministry of Human Resource Development directed State and Central board schools to declare August 9 to 23 as ‘Azadi 70: Yaad Karo Kurbani’ (Freedom 70: Remember the sacrifices) and to sing the National Anthem at 11 am on August 23.

As the National Anthem was being sung, the Chief Minister, DMK MLA R Siva and Director of Education L Kumar stood in attention along with the students. Suddenly, Abdul Rehman, Orleanpet Block Congress President, who stood beside the Chief Minister, took out his mobile phone and clicked a selfie with Narayanasamy.
