CHENNAI: Holding that a fatal fall while attempting to escape from police cannot be construed as custodial death, the First Bench of the Madras High Court has closed a PIL seeking CBI probe in the case. A Raja of Sellayipuram in Dindigul district was arrested on June 7, 2012. The final status report filed by Madurai CB-CID SP and submitted by the investigation officer stated that he had died of injuries sustained when the accused fell down while trying to escape.
