DMK fields tainted doctor

MADURAI: The principal opposition party DMK’s decision to field its medical wing secretary Dr P Saravanan as the candidate for the Tiruparankundram bypoll is set to trigger a controversy, as the doctor is charge-sheeted for implanting expired stents on cardiac patients. Saravanan had moved anticipatory bail in the case twice, which was rejected by the High Court. Interestingly, the first salvo came from within. Dissident leader MK Alagiri’s son Dhaya Alagiri tweeted: “So sad to know that Madurai DMK doesn’t have any better candidate than Saravanan to contest the by-elections,” He even tagged it ‘#KaasuPanamDhoduMoneyMoney’ (sic), a popular song from a Tamil movie.
