CHENNAI: Only 14 per cent lecturer aspirants across the State have  cleared the Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (SET) this year.

Parallel to the National Eligibility Test (NET), SET was made as minimum eligibility criteria for recruitment of lecturers in State universities and colleges.

Nearly 53,800 candidates from various districts took up this test conducted by Mother Teresa Women's University, the nodal agency for conducting it on February 21, 2016.

After several controversies and repeated requests, the results were released on Monday. Nearly 23,000 obtained minimum cut-off scores. Among them only 7,536 (general category-3,704 and subject-wise category-2,832) were eligible for recruitment as per UGC norms.

MTWU officials said candidates' cut-off scores, answer key and copy of answer scripts were available on the official website. Results were sent via email to candidates who have registered their mobile number and email ids.
