TIRUPATI: In a bloodcurdling incident, a private employee on Wednesday mercilessly stabbed his pregnant wife and two-year-old daughter before committing suicide by slitting his throat at their residence at Ashok Nagar. Neighbours were alerted after the woman called her mother after she was stabbed, while her daughter was being attacked.
Sathvik Kumar (26) was working in a private company in Tirupati and residing at Ashok Nagar opposite to Leela Mahal Burial ground. At around 1 pm, Sathvik Kumar came home and stabbed his wife S Mahalakshmi (26) with a knife before attacking his minor daughter.
An injured Mahalakshmi managed to call her mother, who first suspected that she was undergoing labor pains. The mother then called relatives residing nearby to check on Mahalakshmi and take her to the hospital. Neighbours had by then heard pleas for help and rushed to the spot to find Mahalakshmi and her daughter lying in a pool of blood in the front room. Sathvik was found with his throat slit in the adjacent room which had been locked from the inside.
Neighbours rushed all three to the hospital, but doctors declared Sathvik Kumar dead while his Mahalakshmi and her daughter are in critical condition. Police who were informed about the incident by the hospital have begun an inquiry.
