CHENNAI / THANJAVUR: In what could be perceived as a forerunner to the ‘power struggle’ between AIADMK factions in the coming days,  close relatives of V K Sasikala – her brother V K Divaharan and her nephew T T V Dhinakaran buried their hatchet at Thanjavur and vowed to rescue the party which was got in the tangle of a ‘chakra viyugam’.

Dhinakaran and his uncle Dhivakaran were sitting side by side when they visited Thanjavur for the final rites of the former’s mother in-law. They together met the media there and Dhivakaran denied any differences of opinion with Dhinakaran.

Asked whether the differences of opinion with Dhinakaran were sorted out, Divaharan said, “It is all the work of media.  Differences can be sorted out only if they exist.  Dhinakaran is my elder sister’s son … I would say ‘neeradichu neer vilakaadhu’ (water cannot be divided by a jet of water)”

Divaharan said, “As of now, like Abhimanyu, the AIADMK is  got in a ‘chakra viyugam’ (Mahabharatham says it is a disc-like defensive formation. In the plan warriors will be in a difficult position to fight). Lord Krishna who taught how to enter the ‘viyugam’ is not there to help Abhimanyu now. So we wish to rescue the party and we will rise again and achieve our goal.”

However, responding to a question, Divaharan  cautiously avoided any criticism against the government headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami.  “Chief Minister Palaniswami is providing good governance and it is going on smoothly.”

When a scribe pointed out that no minister had turned up for the final rites of his mother in-law, Dhinakaran said “This morning, Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai came and conveyed his condolences. Others also will come.”

Meanwhile, Palaniswami, in Chennai, reiterated the hope that the two factions of AIADMK would come together.
