Puducherry CM Narayanasamy, L-G Kiran Bedi take fight to New Delhi

As the standoff between Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V Narayanasamy intensifies with no solution in sight, both have reached New Delhi with their complaints against each other.

PUDUCHERRY: As the standoff between Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V Narayanasamy intensifies with no solution in sight, both have reached New Delhi with their complaints against each other.

Bedi had left Raj Nivas on Thursday evening, while Narayanasamy flew to Delhi on Friday morning despite the Assembly session being in progress.

It was not the Opposition which has been bothering him, but the Lt Governor with whom he is on a war path. Both are expected to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to explain their sides.

However, both have not publicised their Delhi visit. Interestingly, Bedi who has been in constant touch with media persons through WhatsApp, did not even clarify if she was out of station, though she sent photos of her birthday celebration.

Neither her office staff gave any clarification, while there were unconfirmed reports of her being in Nagpur and then flying to Delhi.

On the other hand, the chief minister’s office said he had gone to Delhi on an official visit and would be meeting several ministers and officials for addressing issues ahead of the GST rollout.

When the MLAs of both the Opposition as well as ruling Congress wanted the government to adopt a resolution urging the Union government to recall the Lieutenant Governor, the chief minister had said he would appraise the Union Home Ministry about the feelings of the MLAs and there was no need to adopt a resolution.

The ball is now in the court of Union Home ministry to resolve the standoff between the Lt Governor and the chief minister.
