CHENNAI: A day after a delegation of farmers called on him, actor  Rajinikanth hosted Arjun Sampath, founder of right wing outfit Indu Makkal Katchi, at his residence on Monday.

“The matter is under consideration,” was the matinee icon’s response to my request that he must enter politics, Sampath told reporters after the meeting.

There has been increased speculation on Rajinikanth’s political entry in recent days, which was triggered by the actor reaching out to his fans and fuelled by his statements on the state of affairs in Tamil Nadu.

“We discussed the political system, which he feels is corrupt. The actor also said he wants to realise the mission of interlinking rivers,” Sampath said. “I  told him that people of Tamil Nadu required his service,” he added.

Besides politics, the two also discussed spirituality and notable Tamil saints like Nayanars, Sampath said.
Later, coming out of his residence, the actor refused to comment on anything political. This latest set of meetings has only added to the suspense over his political entry.
