Tamil Nadu govt to look into Nanguneri SEZ: Industries Minister

The government will look into the functioning of the Nanguneri Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tirunelveli district, Industries Minister MC Sampath said on Monday.

CHENNAI: The government will look into the functioning of the Nanguneri Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tirunelveli district, Industries Minister MC Sampath said on Monday.

Responding to H Vasanthakumar (Cong) during a debate in the Assembly, the Minister promised to give necessary attention to the issue. SREI firm had taken over the SEZ from the control of AMRL, he noted. The Congress legislator alleged that except only one unit, others in the SEZ were not operating as announced by them. As a result, youngsters in the rural town could not get job opportunities as promised, he added. Vasanthakumar, who represents Nanguenri in the Assembly, further said 2-3 companies had given up  constructing their buildings halfway through.
