CHENNAI: A day before the counter for filing nominations closed,  DMK candidate for RK Nagar byelection N Marudhuganesh filed his nomination papers on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Marudhuganesh met the party’s working president MK Stalin to seek his blessings.

A large number of DMK cadre gathered outside the office of the Returning Officer in Tondiarpet expressing their support to Marudhuganesh in the multi-cornered contest in the constituency which fell vacant after the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Later, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) which had an alliance with DMK in the 2016 Assembly polls, held a meeting in which plans were devised to support DMK’s campaign in RK Nagar. ENS
