CHENNAI: The helplines continued to ring as the results of 10.38 lakh students who appeared for Class X state board exams will be declared on Friday.

B Prabhudoss, head of Marketing and Communication of 104 helpline at GVK EMRI, run by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Tamil Nadu Government, said that a total of around 2,000 anxiety calls were received from parents and students on Thursday.

Prabhudoss said that as Class X exam results would be out, additional psychologists have been deployed to  counsel the students who could not fulfill their expectations and those who could not get through in their exams.

“Today we have deployed four psychologists. Tomorrow we are deploying around eight psychologists and we are expecting around 10,000 calls tomorrow,” he said, adding that the psychologists would counsel the students on how to face results with confidence.

“This year the Maths paper has been a tough nut to crack,” said a worried student. Many parents are anxious over the performance of the students.

Nithya B, a parent, was worried about his daughter  who took the class X examination this year. The mother said that her daughter is expecting 450 to 460 out of 500. “My daughter said she wrote the exam well for Science and Tamil. But she is worried about Maths paper as it was tough. Her friends also found Maths tough,” she said.

Another parent M Kokila whose son took class X exam feels hopeful that her son would come out with flying colours. “I feel he would do well. He didn’t find Maths paper tough but in  both Maths and Language paper he couldn’t finish on time. We are expecting 490 out of 500. We are not worried about admission to Class 11 as he already got admission in Bio stream,” she said.

She also welcomed the move by the State government to introduce class XI board exam.

The results would be announced at 10 am on May 19 (Friday) at the Directorate of Government Examination.

This year, a total of 10,38,022 students appeared all over Tamil Nadu, while last year a total of 10.11 lakh students appeared.
