CHENNAI: Stoutly defending the meeting of TN Governor Banwarilal Purohit with State officials at Coimbatore, the Raj Bhavan on Monday denied the charge that “the Governor was acting at the behest of the Central government,” and said “the criticism was  absolutely wrong, false and a figment of imagination.”

The Governor’s office also clarified that the action of the Governor was not violative of Constitution and that he would continue such meetings. “The purpose of such meetings is not to subvert the authority of the State, but to support their efforts in good governance. In our Constitution, there is no bar on the Governor’s action in seeking an appropriate connect with the people,” said a statement.
