COIMBATORE: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar laid the foundation stone for Employment Provident Fund Organisation’s Salem regional office at a function held in Coimbatore on Tuesday. He said that all PF offices across the nation will be made paperless and all process will be made online.

The Central Minister, while addressing the media, said, “There are one crore and 15,000 companies across the nation, who have registered under the GST scheme. At present, 10 lakh companies have registered under the Employees Provident Fund Organisation.  By next year, we have targeted to increase the numbers to 20 lakh. It is a must for all companies, which have more than 20 staff. But, considering the welfare of staff, companies which have less employees also can register under EPF on a voluntary basis.”

“Under the Prime Minster’s Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yoiana (PMRPY) Scheme, Rs 1,000 crore fund has been allocated. The employer is supposed to pay 12 percent, whereas under this scheme a subsidy of 8.33 percent will be paid by Government. But, this scheme will be eligible only for new employees. Very soon, all PF offices across the nation will be made paperless and all process will be online. Child labour acts will also be regulated,” he said.

Central PF Commissioner Joy said, “Recently, the EPF office has introduced a new housing scheme for the employees. This was inaugurated in Tamil Nadu at Thoothukudi.”
