CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday issued joining orders to 2,373 teachers who were selected in competitive examinations held by the State Teacher’s Training Board. “I have issued joining orders to 2,313 teachers and 58 special teachers,” the Chief Minister said adding that this is a move to promote and implement inclusive education.

He added that 40,433 full-time teachers, 15,169 part-time teachers and 4,362 lab assistants have been appointed in the last six years. In order to provide better opportunities for children, the Chief Minister said that scholarship would be offered to 100 students excelling in science, technology and arts. “Funds of D60 crore have been allocated to make 3,000 classrooms across the State smart classrooms.

Each school will receive D2 lakh.” He said that the syllabus would be revised for students from all classes in the coming year. “In 2018-19 syllabus will be changed for classes 1,6,9 and 11; in 2019-20 for classes 2,7,10 and 12; and in 2020-21 for classes 3, 4, 5 and 8.” He added that yoga training would also be included. ens
