COIMBATORE: IS the Tamil Nadu Governor a member of the Kalapatti Urban Cooperative Loan Society in Coimbatore? No, but ‘Governor Tamil Nadu’, with father ‘Government’ and address as ‘Tamil Nadu’ has found his or her way to the society’s voters’ list.
This has angered members of the society who see this as proof of bogus members being added to voters’ list ahead of polls to the board. “The list has been prepared with the intention that only representatives of the ruling party get elected,” alleged K Nagappan, a member of the society.
District Cooperative Society Joint Registrar R Prabhu said it was a clerical error. “Government has had shares in the society since 1979. So ‘Governor’ is a member. But the ‘name’ should have been removed while releasing voters’ list... we have given a day’s time for objections to be filed,” he said.
