Puducherry awaits, to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

 All eyes are on Narendra Modi, who would be visiting Puducherry for the first time as Prime Minister after 15 years.

PUDUCHERRY: All eyes are on Narendra Modi, who would be visiting Puducherry for the first time as Prime Minister after 15 years. Modi would be arriving by chopper to Puducherry Airport at Lawspet at 10.10 am  from where he would proceed to Sri Aurobindo Ashram. He would pay homage at the samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and Mother and interact with ashram trustees and senior devotees. He would also interact with the students of Sri Aurobindo International school to get a glimpse of the unique education pattern followed int he school.

With an allotted time of half an hour, the prime minister is scheduled to leave the Ashram by 11 to reach Auroville and deliver his address on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration of Auroville, an international city founded by the Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram .  

He will also visit Savitri Nivas as well as Matri mandir in Auroville. By 1.30 pm Modi would leave Auroville to reach Lawspet helipad ground, where he would address a public meeting  from 2 to 3 pm and leave for airport. At the airport, he is slated to meet Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, where Narayanasamy is expected  to brief the prime minister on the financial issues of Puducherry and seek the release of funds that are due to Puducherry. After meeting other dignitaries, the prime minister would leave Puducherry for Chennai by 3.25 pm by a helicopter  

The Ashram area would be cordoned off  by the police and restrict the movements from 9 am till the prime minister leaves after the visit. Restrictions on traffic would also be made on S V Patel road, MG road from Ajantha square to ECR, Rajiv Gandhi statue and JIPMER road. There would be restrictions on the airport-road too, official sources said.
