Girl ends life over poor NEET score in Tamil Nadu

TIRUCHY: Upset over poor NEET score, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide on Wednesday night. Daughter of a driver, K Subhasri managed double-digit score and her family claimed she was not aware of the negative marking.

Kannan, the girl’s father, said Subhasri joined a private coaching centre for a one-month crash course. “I paid Rs 20,000 for it. She scored only 24 marks as she attended all the questions without knowing about the negative marks.” Kannan said they did not check her result till Wednesday as they were not confident that she would make it. Once Kannan informed his daughter of her score, she was disturbed.

“I told her she could join paramedical course or forensic studies,” Kannan said. But his words did not comfort her and when Kannan went out to close the gates, Subhasri went inside a room and committed suicide.
