DHARMAPURI: Only a couple of days after a child marriage was stopped in Karimangalam, a team - led by Gram Sevak Maliga from Marandahalli, Childline member Illavarasi and Child Welfare Committee member Ambiga from Dharmapuri - rescued a 15-year-old girl 10 days after she entered wedlock with a 26-year-old labourer on Sunday.

For a while, no case was filed as post of Social Welfare Officer was vacant for a month, said an official source.

The victim was forced into marriage with Manigandan (26), who was working as a labourer in Bengaluru, by her parents. After rescue, the girl was handed over to the CWC. An inquiry would be initiated soon, sources added.
