Restore old pension scheme, Anbumani Ramadoss urges Tamil Nadu government

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government should take steps to restore the old pension scheme to its employees, Anbumani Ramadoss, MP, has said.

In a statement, he referred to the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s statement at Omalur that the old pension scheme could not be reintroduced as the State government was facing a severe financial crisis. By this, the government was betraying its employees, Anbumani Ramadoss said.

He said the former Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, had promised in the election manifesto of 2011 that the old pension scheme would be brought back if AIADMK was voted to power. But, she did not keep her promise. Hence, the State government should take steps to bring back the old pension scheme, he said.
