HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister T Harish Rao wants people to involve themselves in the restoration of tanks across the state which will commence soon.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Saturday after releasing a book, Neeti Gummi (water body) penned by journalist Juluri Gowrisankar, Harish Rao said that the restoration of tanks was not a work of the government or any political party. People should own the work and improve their villages, he said.
A variety of literature was coming on restoration of tanks and one such was the book ‘Neeti Gummi’, Rao said. He congratulated Gowri Sankar on adopting a tank in his native Nalgonda district for restoration. More such literature should be brought out to create awareness among people on restoration of tanks. Rao said that the works would be awarded on EPC system but not on nomination basis.
