HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to speed up its welfare and developmental activities in the next two-and-half years of its rule.

“We will speed up our activities and see that all the poll promises are implemented,” IT minister KT Rama Rao said. Speaking to select media on the completion of two-and-a-half years rule of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government on Friday, Rama Rao said the government would try to overcome the demonetisation problems and speed up the government activities in the second half of the rule.

“It is trying time for us. We will try to overcome the demonetisation affects and strike a balance between welfare and development,” he added. “As a first reaction, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao opposed the demonetisation. Later, as an Indian, the CM supported it in the larger interest of the country. The demonetisation step is irreversible,” Rama Rao said. He, however, hastened to add that the TRS had no links with the BJP.

“The CM did not resort to street fights unlike other CMs. We cannot resort to political fights due to demonetisation,” Rama Rao said. “Siddipet will be developed as a model segment for cashless transactions. After assessing the outcome, it will be spanned out across the state in phases,” Rama Rao added. Once, all the people are brought into tax bracket, the Central government’s income would increase and the tax devolution to the States too would go up, Rama Rao assessed.

He informed that Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya would be completed and the tempo in Haritha Haram would continue in next two and half years.

On the criticism launched by TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, Rama Rao wondered why Kodandaram was sharing dais with TTDP leader like A Revanth Reddy, who went to jail.  Rama Rao wanted the Congress leaders to produce proof of their allegations.
