Dynasty a norm in Indian politics, says Kavitha

Nizamabad MP says its unfair to target TRS as practice is prevalent all over India

HYDERABAD: Defending her family’s dominance in the TRS government, the party MP and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha said “dynastic politics” is a reality in every political party in the country including the TRS.

“Dynastic politics is an integral part of India’s political culture. It is there in every party right from Uttar Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh. So pointing fingers at only TRS is not correct,” she said. She was replying to a question asked during a ‘meet the press’ programme, organised by the Hyderabad Press Club here on Friday. “No party is untouched by it, so blaming a particular party or family is not correct,” she added.

“Our family members were all in the forefront of Telangana struggle and have people’s acceptance. We all started our political career at ground level and got elected with the peoples’ support. Hence, we are in power, due to peoples mandate and not because we belong to a family. Moreover, one has to see the merit of the person and his ability to deliver things.
To say that one should not be in the government just because one belongs to the family of a ruling party leader is not right,” she said. However, the MP added, “I personally feel that dynastic politics should not continue in the country.”

Advice to Lokesh
Kavitha advised AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son and TDP general secretary Lokesh to keep away from Telangana’s affairs. “Stop unnecessary interference in the affairs of Telangana. It will be better for him if he confines himself to AP. If we start commenting on the affairs of AP, it will become difficult for him,” she warned. Referring to Lokesh declaring his family assets, Kavitha said her family did not need to do all these “dramas.” “If any one wants to know about our assets, they can approach government agencies. He is (Lokesh) doing it for publicity. We don’t need to do so as we are declaring our assets to the departments concerned, regularly” she said.
Backs surgical strikes
Kavitha also supported the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army and even backed banning of Pakistani actors.
