SANGAREDDY: “I don’t have any personal agenda. I don’t need to follow others’ agendas. The work I know is only bringing the problems of people to the government’s notice,” said political JAC convener Prof Kodandaram.

Visiting Sangareddy and Zahirabad constituencies on Tuesday to evaluate the crop loss caused by the recent rains, he spoke to media here and said people were in need and the government is not bothered about the needy and thus JAC had to come to the people.

He said if the government does its work, there won’t be any need for JAC to act or do anything. When asked about the comments made by TRS ministers and MLAs alleging that he is touring to implement Congress’ agenda in criticising the government, he responded that there was no need for him to follow anybody else’s agenda and added that his main agenda is finding solutions to the problems of people of Telangana and accused TRS leaders of making baseless allegations. Earlier, he visited Pottipally, Etigaddasangam, Nizampur and Kolkur villages in Sadasivpet mandal and interacted with farmers and collected crop loss details. K Kumar from Pottipally said irrigation officials without assessing the severity of flood water, released water from Manjeera reservoir and Singur project to downstream areas which damaged the crops. Farmers told that in Sadasivpet mandal alone 6,000 acres of crop had been damaged. Vishwanadham, a farmer said small-scale farmers who had taken land on lease had incurred heavy losses.

The TJAC chiarman said farmers had spent `20,000 on maize, `30,000 for cotton and `20,000 on Bengal gram per acre and added that the government should help them. He demanded that compensation be paid to farmers of Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet districts who lost their crops. He also demanded input subsidy and that seeds and free fertilisers me made available for Rabi season.
