HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up issues like triple talaq, construction of Ram Mandir in upcoming UP elections for the sake of polarization.

Owaisi said that “talaq is the most disliked thing in Islam”. But, he wondered, why only Muslims were targeted in this country. The BJP is conveniently focusing on Muslims, he alleged.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Owaisi said that there were several pressing issues but the PM was making the Yadav parivar fight, rooting for triple talaq and the construction of Ram Mandir and the agenda of the BJP for UP elections is polarization.

The share of agriculture land for daughters is an issue in UP and Muslim girls should also be considered, he said. Instead of taking up constructive issues, Modi is polarizing, the AIMIM president alleged.

He recalled the Mumbai High Court’s directions for reservations of Muslims in Maharashtra, but the government provided reservations to Jats and Patels, but not Muslims. “Where is secularism in this country. Modi government is not protecting secularism. The government is taking steps to weaken secularism by imposing ban on beef,” he added. He dared the Modi government to abolish marriage laws in Goa.
