KCR invited for Sikh Jagriti Yatra

HYDERABAD: Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchal Nagar Sahib, Nanded Gurudwara Board president and BJP MLA from Mulund in Maharashtra, Sardar Tara Singh invited Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to attend the Jagriti Yatra being organised to mark the tenth Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh’s 350th birthday celebrations to be held on January 5, 2017, as chief guest.

Tara Singh called on the Chief Minister at the latter’s camp office on Thursday. The Jagruthi Yatra would reach Hyderabad on October 31 and a meeting is being organised at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium. Tara Sigh wanted the CM to attend the programme. Rao accepted the invite, according to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office. Rao wished success of 350th birthday celebrations of the Gurugobind Singh. Later, Tara Singh informed the Chief Minister that there were only two Sikh mayors in the country and one city was located in Telangana.

Karimnagar city’s Mayor is Ravinder Singh. Governor ESL Narasimhan’s secretary Harpreet Singh and Nanded Gurudwara Board member S Daljit Singh and other Prabhandak Committee member of various Gurudwara also accompanied Tara Singh. The Jagriti Yatra was flagged from Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Saheb on October 13. The ‘yatra’ will cover 9 states including Telangana before returning to Patna Saheb in the last week of November. The ‘yatra’ will have on display 16 shastras (weapons) of Guru Gobind Singh. The weapons are otherwise preserved at the Patna Saheb gurdwara.
