Peddapalli to emerge as new industrial hub

KARIMNAGAR: The proposed new district -- Peddapalli will emerge as a new industrial hub in the coming days.

In comparison with other districts of the state, Peddapalli has a lot of scope for development because of power projects and other industrial establishments. Sultanabad and Peddapalli, which are about 10 km apart, have the potential to develop as twin towns in future. NTPC-Ramagundam, which currently generates 2100 MW power, will start generating another 1600 MW power in the coming days. The works for it is underway.

There are other industries too in Peddapalli like Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, Kesoram Cement Factory, Ramagundam B Thermal Power Station, Telangana Power Generation Corporation (which generates about 62.50 MW of power)and Ramagiri Historical Fort (located just 20 km away from Peddapally). In addition to all of these, there is talk of setting up a unit of Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) between Peddapalli and Sultanabad. During UPA rule, the railway minister had approved the unit in Sultanabad, which has proposed by the then Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar. CONCOR unti will be set up under the Rail Link Multi Model Logistics Park Scheme. Over 100 acres of land is required. It was shelved due to lack of land. Assessing these future establishments, the rates of lands situated between Peddapalli and Sultanabad have  shot up. The market price is `1 crore per acre.
