Over 41 lakh children to be administered polio vaccine on Sunday

For those children who miss polio drops, a house-to-house activity will be carried out on April 3 and 4 and in Hyderabad it will be extended for another day, on April 5.

HYDERABAD: As many as 41.57 lakh children below five years of age across the state, including Greater Hyderabad limits will be administered oral polio vaccine during second round of Pulse Polio Immunisation programme to be held on Sunday from 6 am onwards.

All health staff, volunteers, ASHAs, AWWs, Mahila Mandali members, MEPMA, SERP, nursing students and teachers will be involved in programme.

Telangana Commissionerate of Health and Family Welfare has arranged 25,700 polio booths across state, 787 mobile teams, 2,557 route supervisors, 8,711 ANMs, 27,045 ASHA workers and 32,082 AWW have been pressed into service for administering polio drops.

In Hyderabad, as many as 3,062 polio booths, 47 transit booths, 115 mobile teams have been arranged, special steps are being taken in about 82 areas.
