WARANGAL: Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) officials are pleasantly surprised to find the city currently ranked sixth out of 500 in the Citizen Feedback category of the Swachh Survekshan survey. They had been fretting over the poor response as only 4500 citizens had downloaded the Swachhata app before the Swachh team’s visit.
Citizens’ feedback will affect the overall ranking of cities in the cleanliness index to be released by the Centre. The app can be downloaded till February 12.
The current ranking has surprised top officials of both the district administration and corporation. Warangal (urban) district collector Amrapali and corporation commissioner Shruti Ojha had been using every platform to urge people to download the Swachhata App.
“Currently we are ranked 42 in the overall category,” the official claimed. So far, 177 cities across 19 states have been evaluated as part of the survey.
