Stone laid for vaccines plant at genome valley 

State govt aims to make Hyderabad the world’s capital for life sciences, pharmaceuticals: KTR

HYDERABAD: Industries minister KT Rama Rao said the Telangana government aims to make Hyderabad World’s Capital for Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals.


KTR visited Genome Valley on Monday and laid foundation for several projects, including a new vaccines plant being constructed by Biological E Limited at Genome Valley on Monday. The new vaccines plant to be set up by BE in 29 acres, with an investment of `300 crore, besides helping existing vaccines plant in increasing the manufacturing, is expected to create 1,000 new jobs.


“Expressway from Hyderabad to Thumukunta will be completed in the next 24 months for the convenience of people employed in Genome Valley. We are also focusing on developing good schooling, homes and social infrastructure near Genome Valley,” KT Rama Rao said, stressing that Telangana government is focused on doing all it needs to attract investments and pharma companies to Hyderabad. KTR also announced that a medical equipment manufacturing park will be set up near Hyderabad in about 400 acres as the sector has huge potential for growth.


Though complete details of medical equipment manufacturing park are yet to be announced, KTR’s annoucement points to Telangana government’s intention to make Hyderabad a hub for pharma and medical manufacuturing sector, as work has already started for setting up Pharma city in 14,000 acres besides to the existing Genome Valley.


Rama Rao also laid foundation for National Animal Resources Facility for Biological Research to be constructed in 102 acres.


Officials from Indian Council of Medical Research and Johnson and Johnson were present on the occasion.


I Hub 2, which provides space for companies in 20 lakh square feet, MN Park and ICICI SME hub were also launched by KTR on Monday.
