HYDERABAD:Three days after IT Minister KT Rama Rao’s comment that some ‘politically unemployed’ people were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state by provoking the unemployed youth and college students against the state government, Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M Kodandaram on Friday said there were reports that government was planning to order baton charge and firing against the Nirudyoga Nirasana Rally, to be organised on February 22 by the outfit.

“Some are planning to create disturbances during the rally so as to force the police to resort to firing. This a ploy to tarnish the image of the TJAC. Hence, all participants in the rally should exercise utmost restraint. They shouldn’t fall prey to the machinations of evil forces,” Kodandaram called upon all the unemployed youth and college students in the state, who are likely to take part in the proposed rally.

Stating that the TJAC’s agitations have made the government impatient and restless, the Kodandaram, while interacting with media persons here, said that the proposed rally would be held as per schedule, even if the government denies permission for it.

“On February 22, the rally will be organised from Sundarayya Park to Indira Park in Hyderabad at 10 am. I request all the students and youth to take part in the rally in large numbers and allow it to be held peacefully,” he said.

While greeting KCR on his 63rd birthday on Friday, Kodandaram urged the CM to at least resolve the demands of unemployed youth in the state on the occasion of the former’s birthday. Commenting on the critical remarks made by the TRS leaders against him, the TJAC chairman said the outfit is following the path shown by professor Jayashankar to address people’s issues.

“I worked with civil rights activists such as K Balagopal, Swami Agnivesh and others for 40 years. I don’t feel bad, if they (TRS) insult me personally. But, its not proper for them to defame the people’s movements,” he said.
