PMO tells Telangana to update on progress of assets case against Karimnagar ASI

The Prime Minister’s Office has directed Telangana to inform it about the progress made in the investigation into benami transactions and assets case.

KARIMNAGAR: nIn a significant development, the Prime Minister’s Office has directed Telangana chief secretary to inform it about the progress made the investigation into benami transactions and assets case against ASI of Police B Mohan Reddy of Karimnagar. The PMO asked chief secretary to upload all the information related to the case onto its official portal.

Loksatta Udyama Samstha President N Srinivas, on behalf of Reddy’s victims, had filed a petition in court on Jan 6. Apart from approaching court, Samstha submitted around 70 related documents to the PMO.

Reddy’s alleged criminal activities came to light after Ken Crest School Chairman R Prasad Rao committed suicide in October  2015 allegedly unable to bear his harassment. Several others soon came forward to register complaints.

Cases under abetment to suicide and 40 cases related to money lending were registered against him, who spent about 134 days in the district jail. But, CID did not file a chargesheet and he was released on bail last March.
