HYDERABAD: Amid much criticism from the opposition parties and people’s organisations, the TRS government in the state successfully thwarted TJAC’s  bid to hold a rally here on Wednesday, aimed at highlighting problems of unemployed youth.

None other than Kodandaram, the ideologue behind the separate Telangana movement, who had played  a key role in the statehood agitation by heading the TJAC in which TRS was also a part, was forcibly arrested by the police at his residence along with some other TJAC leaders, during a pre-dawn swoop on Wednesday.
Raising eyebrows from various quarters, the police allegedly broke open the main doors of Kodandaram’s residence located at Tarnaka, before  taking him into custody.

Police took nearly 447 protesters into  custody for trying to take out a rally. Many TJAC activists and students’ leaders, who were on their way to Hyderabad from different parts of the state to take part in the rally, were also taken into custody. However, all of them including Kodandaram were released in the evening.
Soon after his release, Kodandaram said the TJAC would continue to undertake agitations against the “anti-people’s” policies of the state government.
He supported the Osmania University Students’ JAC call for state-wide shutdown of all educational institutions on Thursday, in protest against the arrest of TJAC leaders.
