This led to an attack on the houses of the accused and tension in the village.Villagers ransacked the houses of the accused, set furniture afire and tried to attack the accused, despite police presence.

According to Mulugu ASP Rahul Hegde, Nara Srinivas (30) and Kalyan alias Kittu (22), were murdered by the relatives of tribal widow Radhika because the married Srinivas was having an affair with her.

Raju, Radhika’s brother-in-law, had reportedly warned Srinivas, several times, to stay away from her. Raju had also lodged a police complaint against Srinivas alleging the latter had molested Radhika.

Srinivas, who had a criminal background, shot an intimate video of himself with Radhika on his mobile phone and used it to prove to police and villagers that they were in a consensual relationship.

Meanwhile, Raju and his family, furious that police hadn’t acted on their complaint, allegedly decided to kill Srinivas.

When the two men were drunk, Radhika’s family sprinkled chili powder in their eyes and killed them with crowbars.

The incident came to light Sunday morning, when neighbours saw the bodies lying at Raju’s house. The accused are absconding. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased attacked the residence of local MPTC Shyamlal, whom they believed was behind the murder. Additional forces, including special party police, were rushed to the village to disperse the crowd.
