Restore Osmania University’s glory before fete: TTDP

The Telangana Telugu Desam has asked Chief Minister  Rao to improve infrastructure and fill the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts at Osmania University immediately.

HYDERABAD:The Telangana Telugu Desam has asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to improve infrastructure and fill the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts at Osmania University immediately instead of focusing on holding the university’s centenary celebrations in a lavish manner.

TTDP working president A Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused the state government of trying to conceal the actual problems such as lack of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation to the university, inadequate staff, improper infrastructure and dilapidated hostel buildings.

“It is mandatory for all universities to get NAAC accreditation in order to get grants from the University Grants Commission (UGC). But OU’s NAAC accreditation lapsed in 2013.”

Reddy added that the university’s standards had fallen drastically because of the policies of the TRS government. The state government’s lackadaisical attitude to filling teaching and non-teaching posts is robbing the university of its glory, he remarked.
