Focus on healthcare, education: Telangana Deputy CM to collectors

The Deputy CM announced Rs 100 crore for improving infrastructures in government educational institutions in the erstwhile Warangal district.

WARANGAL: Expressing concern over the situation prevailing in government educational institutions and healthcare sector, deputy chief minister Kadiam Srihari directed collectors of reorganised Warangal district to give priority to both the sectors and announced Rs 100 crore for improving infrastructures in government educational institutions in the erstwhile Warangal district.

Talking about the low percentage of deliveries taking place in government hospitals during Zilla Parishad General Body meeting here on Saturday, he said the state provides Rs 15,000 for each institutional delivery, still people do not opt for government hospitals which means that there is some fault with us.

Cong, BJP, TDP stage walkout

Congress and other opposition members boycotted the meeting in protest against the government for not allocating funds to them to take up development works in their constituencies.

As soon as the meeting began, the opposition members demanded discussion on funds and developmental works and when Srihari refused to take up the issue and criticised them for their attitude, they staged a walk out. Nine Congress, one each BJP,  TDP and independent members walked out of the meeting. Later speaking to media, Congress floor leader M Venkanna said, “We are not able to do anything for the people.

Funds are only being sanctioned to the ruling party members. We want the government to sanction at least Rs 3 crore to each member to take up developmental works,” he said.
