16 file papers for civic body election

As many as 16 corporators (10 belonging to the ruling TRS and six of MIM) filed their nomination papers for election to the 15-member Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Council. 

HYDERABAD: As many as 16 corporators (10 belonging to the ruling TRS and six of MIM) filed their nomination papers for election to the 15-member Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Council. 


Though the election is scheduled for July 6,  it is likely that the members will be elected unanimously as A Saraswathi of TRS, who filed her nomination last month, might be asked to withdraw her nomination in order to make the elections unanimous.On the last day of the filing of nominations on Monday, nine TRS corporators and six MIM corporators filed their nominations. 


The TRS nominees are Bangari Prakash, ES Raj Jitendernath, Parmeshwari Singh, Vijayalakshmi R Gadwal, Sama Swapna, V Srinivas Reddy, Koppula Vittal Reddy, M Narasimha Reddy and Jagadeeshwar. 
The MIM nominees are M Majid Hussain, M Rajender Yadav, F Samad Bin Ahmed, Ayesha Jahan Naseem, M Muzaffar Hussain and Mirza Riyaz Ul Hasan Effendi.


Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 21 and withdrawal of nominations on June 24. The term of the standing committee is one year. At present, TRS has nine members and its ally MIM has six in the 15-member committee. Of the 150-member corporation, TRS has 99 members and MIM 44.
