Putting an end to speculations that he might go for early polls, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday ruled out his government going for early polls.

HYDERABAD: Putting an end to speculations that he might go for early polls, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday ruled out his government going for early polls. “There is no chance of going for early Assembly polls,” Rao said on Wednesday.
A debate has been going on in the political circles that there will be early polls for Assembly in the state. The rumours of early polls were intensified after an  ‘election-oriented’  and populist budget was presented in the state Assembly on Monday.

The next Assembly elections are scheduled in 2019. However, the talk is that Rao would go for Assembly elections in the last quarter of 2018.
Putting an end to the debate, the chief minister made it clear  that the elections to the Assembly would be held as per schedule  in 2019.

Replying to motion of thanks on Governor’s speech in the  Legislative Council, Rao said, “People will bless us, if we do good work. Even if the Opposition obstruct development works by filing cases in courts, we will achieve our targets.’’
‘‘The Congress has filed 34 cases against construction of irrigation projects. I appeal to the Congress members to  withdraw the cases. Even if the Opposition creates obstacles, we will overcome and construct the projects,’’ he said.
