HYDERABAD: Stating that more than 50 per cent teaching posts in the Osmania University, which is going to celebrate its centenary in April, are vacant, BJP state unit chief K Laxman has urged governor ESL Narasimhan to direct the government to fill all the vacant posts immediately. Laxman, who regularly knock on the door of Raj Bhavan to complain against the state government’s policies and also to take the people’s issues to the notice of the governor, on Monday called on the governor in the capacity of the alumnus of the university along with members of the Forum for Nationalist Alumni of OU.

“OU has a total strength of 1,267 sanctioned posts. But, at present there are only 553 regular teachers, which means more than 50 per cent teaching posts are vacant. Being the chancellor of the OU, please instruct the government to issue a notification to fill all the vacant posts before the commencement of centenary celebrations scheduled to begin on April 26,” the delegation told the governor.
Later, Laxman told newsmen they had requested the governor to direct the government to improve infrastructure in the university, which was established in 1917.
