HYDERABAD: Hyderabad recorded the season’s highest temperature at 39 degree Celsius on Friday against the normal maximum temperature which usually hovers around 36.8 degree Celsius. The highest maximum temperature across Telangana was recorded at 40.5 degree Celsius in Adilabad, followed by 40.2 degree Celsius at Mahbubnagar and 40 degree Celsius at Bhadrachalam. Almost all other districts recorded around 39 degree Celsius.

The highest-ever recorded temperature in the month of March in Hyderabad was recorded on March 23, 2010 at 41.3 degree Celsius. The record for highest temperature in March across Telangana is held by Bhadrachalam at 42.8 degree Celsius which was recorded on March 18 last year.

India Meteorological Department officials said that due to lack of upper cyclonic circulation or trough over Telangana there is no moisture feeding from either Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea and as a result the relative humidity is also very low in the region, less than 50 pc.

Moreover, there is presence of anticyclone over Telasngana and coastal Andhra Pradesh resulting in dry winds prevailing over the state. Due to these conditions and lack of clouds,  the temperature has shot up.

However, such conditions occur before monsoon. The high temperatures due to such conditions exist for a few days which ultimately result in formation of cumulonimbus clouds that cause thundershowers.

The IMD said that the dry weather over Telangana will prevail for the coming five days. As per private weather prediction websites, maximum temperatures of 38-39 degree Celsius will continue till next Thursday.
