HYDERABAD: After eight employees of Cognizant Technology Services along with representatives of the Forum for IT employees (FITE), a collective which works for the welfare of IT employees, approached the Rangareddy Labour commissioner fearing that they would be terminated, the IT company in question has sought two weeks time to respond.

The company was notified by the department based on the petition though none of the petitioners have been terminated yet. “Out of the eight, three people have submitted resignations willfully. Five others are just fearing that they might be terminated. The petition claims that a large number of employees are being terminated illegally,” said R Chandrashekar, joint commissioner, Rangareddy zone, department of Labour welfare. “The management has requested two weeks to look into the cases and update the labour department,” he added.
