Acquire land for bridges at railway crossings quickly: Telangana Chief secretary

Chief secretary SP Singh has directed the officials concerned to speed up land acquisition for constructing road overbridges and underbridges at all railway level crossings in the state.

HYDERABAD: Chief secretary SP Singh has directed the officials concerned to speed up land acquisition for constructing road overbridges and underbridges at all railway level crossings in the state.


At a review of the progress of railway projects at Secretariat here on Wednesday, Singh said he would hold review meetings once in two months.


He said the government would release funds for the Medak-Akkannapet-Manoharabad-Kotthapalli railway line as per the progress of the works. He directed the officials to complete the joint survey on land acquisition for the Muneerabad-Mahbubnagar railway line.

The chief secretary also wanted the district collectors to give required permissions immediately for construction of subways at 28 unmanned level crossings in the state. The approach roads should be constructed for the nine ROBs which were completed, Singh said.


At another review meeting, roads and buildings minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said tenders would be called soon for the Bhadrachalam-Sattupalli railway line. 


The 133.70-km long Bhadrachalam-Sattupalli-Kovur railway line was sanctioned in 2012. The 53-2-km-long stretch from Bhadrachalam to Sattupalli will be in Telangana and the Singareni Collieries will extend financial support for it. The project cost is  estimated at ` 704.31 crore. The process to acquire 500 acres of land for the railway line had commenced, he said. 


The minister also directed the officials to send a proposal for laying a railway track from Pandurangapuram to Kothagudem Road  for its inclusion in the next budget.
