Telangana insurance fraud: Agent tries to fix matter

HYDERABAD: Lingala police and village Sarpanch and agents who allegedly committed insurance fraud are said to be trying to be offer money to the deceased’s family to settle the matter. This comes a day after 26-year-old Lokya Naik unsuccessfully approached Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma to complain against Lingala police of Nagarkurnool for not registering cases.

One of the agents Karnakota Raju, who allegedly withdrew Rs 4.5 lakh insurance claim of the complainant’s father after demise of one of his sons, told Express that the Appayapally Limgal Sarpanch Ravi Naik and Lingala police have asked him to visit the village on Sunday to settle the matter.

“I want to return the cash that was withdrawn from the account of Niranjan, father of the deceased, Lalu. This insurance amount was deposited to the account of the deceased’s father Niranjan’s account by insurance companies. We want to settle the issue without registering cases,’’  said insurance agent Raju. 

When contacted the complainant Lokya Naik, said that he approached an advocate to help approach the Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool, and to lodge a complaint against bank officials and insurance agents.

“The Lingala police have been putting pressure on me to compromise with the insurance agents who are willing to return amount,’’ the complainant, Lokya Naik said.
