Loan waiver: Congress sets out to collect Telangana farmers’ details

Telangana Congress leadership has decided to observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation of high-value currency notes, as ‘black day’ across the state.

HYDERABAD: After taking up the gauntlet thrown down by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao asking the opposition parties to prove that the loan of any single farmer’s crop loan was not waived, the Congress has embarked on a mission to collect the details of farmers whose crop loan waiver amounts including interest were not paid, to prove CM’s claim wrong.

“We are collecting the details of farmers, who availed the farm loan waiver scheme. As the government had released the crop loan waiver amount in instalments to them, farmers were forced to bear the burden of interest on their loans,” TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy told mediapersons here on Friday. Meanwhile, as per the decision taken by the AICC high command, the Telangana Congress leadership has decided to observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation of high-value currency notes, as ‘black day’ across the state.
