Man threatens to jump from cell tower to get divorce

B Ajay Kumar Rao, a medical practitioner in Arpapalli village, on Wednesday climbed a cell phone tower in Jagtial and threatened to jump from it sending the whole town into a tizzy.

JAGTIAL: B Ajay Kumar Rao, a medical practitioner in Arpapalli village, on Wednesday climbed a cell phone tower in Jagtial and threatened to jump from it sending the whole town into a tizzy.  He was seeking a divorce from his wife Lasya accusing her of harassing him with police cases.After a four-hour drama, he got his demand met with his wife signing the divorce papers. According to police Ajay Kumar, who divorced his first wife, was married to Lasya  7 years back.  

The couple has a daughter.  He used to quarrel with his wife frequently which led to filing of a dowry harassment case against him by his wife. But later she withdrew the case and patched up with him. However, when differences cropped up again, Lasya slapped dowry harassment again against him. Ajay Kumar stopped living with Lasya and also stopped paying rent to the house where they were residing before separation.

Lasya demanded that Ajay Kumar pay the house rent, police said. “I decided to jump from cell tower because police are harassing me as per my wife’s complaint,’’ he said.   Police, however,  pacified him and brought him down.  As per his demand, Lasya signed on divorce agreement papers. in the presence of advocates. Police later counselled the couple.
